CDC: 100 people sickened by salmonella strain across US
Apr 9th 2012, 20:03

The number of people who have become infected with a strain of salmonella bareilly has risen to 100 people in 19 states and the District of Columbia, the CDC said in a statement.

No deaths have been reported, but the CDC said 10 people have been hospitalized.

Currently, a concrete cause for the illnesses is not known, but the FDA and CDC have launched an investigation to find out what is behind the outbreak.  Nearly 70 percent of the people they've interviewed so far reported eating some kind of sushi within a week of getting sick.

Once a food source is found to be the cause, the CDC plans to alert the public on how to take preventative measures.
