Dallas hotel shuts down after guest diagnosed with Legionnaires' disease Jun 7th 2012, 12:32 A Dallas hotel was shut down Wednesday after an out-of-state guest was diagnosed with Legionnaires' disease, WFAA-TV reported. SuperMedia Hotel and Conference Center officials told the station the building was closed as a precaution, while Tarrant County officials said they were aware of the case but would not investigate unless an outbreak occurred. It is not known if the one person who was diagnosed with the disease was infected at the hotel, or somewhere else. Legionnaires' disease is commonly found in water sources like rivers and lakes, as well as artificial water supply sources like air-conditioning systems and cooling towers. The disease is not contagious and symptoms can take up to a fortnight to develop after people have been exposed to contaminated droplets of water. Click for more from WFAA-TV.
