Georgia's state Department of Health says it has seen a significant increase in the number of whooping cough cases.
Affected counties include Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton, Gwinnett, Newton and Rockdale.
As of July 28, health officials have seen 95 cases compared to 51 cases this time last year.
The CDC has already predicted that the U.S. appears to be headed for its worst year for whooping cough in more than five decades.
